Growing up as a Midwestern farm boy, Ron appreciated the natural beauty and mechanical aspects in his early life. He had an innate ability to draw and paint, creating with whatever materials were available; sometimes oil and pencil, sometimes wood and metal.
Ron has been working in various art mediums since the 1970’s, as his work evolved from oils and acrylics to watercolor, pastels and color pencil. A career in graphic arts developed his digital artistic ability using Adobe Photoshop. Creativity blossomed after retiring to the Northern Neck where he began sculpting in clay and wood, followed by metal in 2010.
Sculpture enables him to convert metal, stone and wood materials resulting in one-of-a-kind Fine Art pieces for interior design. Watercolor pencil, Block Printing and Acrylic are the mediums that express his unique views. Subtle paint spatters and creative design set his work apart.
Ron believes “ Art should draw you in; speak to you; take you somewhere else. Consider the possibilities, yet, there it is….Flat, framed and hanging on a wall or sitting on a pedestal”.
Ron exhibits his work at RAL Art Center, Stewart Gallery, the Williamsburg Contemporary Art Center, and The Local in Irvington. He has won numerous awards at all of the Art Galleries where he exhibits his work for juried shows and monthly art exhibits.
